Benefits of Dental Implants

Healthier Appearance

Missing teeth can weaken your jawbone, causing shrinkage of bone and tissue. This gives your face a sunken, aged appearance. Dr. Balloch may recommend implants to keep your jaw strong, replace missing teeth, and help your face look fuller, more youthful, and healthier.

Improved Speech

Missing teeth can cause lisping and garbled speech because the open spaces affect how your tongue works to create certain sounds. Implants, along with attached dentures, can help you pronounce words more clearly.

Dr. Balloch uses strong titanium implants, which are resistant to damage and decay. They normally remain firmly anchored in your jaw for many years.

Better Diet

After Dr. Balloch attaches high-quality replacement teeth to your implants, biting and chewing healthy foods like fruits, nuts, and vegetables will be a lot easier. Healthy diets can be difficult to maintain when teeth are missing or damaged.

More Self-Confidence

When your smile is affected by a damaged tooth or several missing teeth, it can be difficult to talk or laugh in public. A bright healthy smile can restore self-confidence, which may help you achieve your personal and business goals.

Dr. Balloch may recommend implants to his patients in the Glastonbury, CT, area because they're a good investment. Traditional dentures cost less, but they don't prevent bone shrinkage and shifting like titanium implants, and the implants can provide firm anchorage for your teeth that dentures cannot. This can eliminate costly treatments like bone grafts if a denture needs replacing later.

"Hard to describe how beautiful my teeth look." 5-Star Reviews

Outstanding.  Hard to describe how beautiful my teeth look.  I was a complicated case, and Dr. Balloch and his entire team was completely focused on ensuring everything worked perfectly.  I had many extra visits (due to my own issues) and I was always given priority and extra care.  The temporaries were so beautiful it was hard to believe the permanents would be even better -  but they are.  All issues resolved and I couldn't be happier.  Tremendous service by the entire staff and amazing outcome.  Highly recommend.

Learn About Implant Reconstruction Surgery

Dr. Steven Balloch and his team can replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth, or completely rebuild your mouth with dental implants. In some cases, replacement teeth can be placed during a single visit. Necessary pre-implant procedures such as bone grafting can also be performed in his comfortable, state-of-the-art office.

Procedure Timeline

It takes several months including healing to complete this smile-restoring, life-changing treatment. But it's totally worth the time and financial investment to get your oral health, smile, and self-confidence back.

Here are the basic steps:

Day of Procedure with one of Dr. Balloch's Implantologists

Treatment Planning

During an initial appointment, we will develop your treatment plan. During this visit, we will determine the best type of implants and location for the posts, as well as discuss the your cosmetic goals.

Anesthesia/Sedation Dentistry

Before the procedure, a numbing anesthetic will be injected into the surgical area so you feel comfortable and pain-free. Dr. Balloch is proud to offer sedation dentistry to patients who prefer to be in a sleepy but conscious state during the surgery. This is administered through an IV by a skilled, highly experienced dental anesthesiologist.

Implant Placement

Small, surgical incisions are made in your gums through which the implants are anchored into your jaw. These are the titanium tooth roots that will eventually support your prosthetic tooth or teeth. A healing period of four to six months is required for the implants to fuse to your jawbone before the next procedure can be scheduled.

Abutment Attachment

A device called an abutment is secured to the titanium posts. It serves as a connector between the post and the prosthetic tooth it will support. Because the implants must be accessed to attach the abutment, small incisions will again be made in your gums. After one or two weeks of healing, the final part of the procedure can be scheduled.

Prosthetic Teeth Placement

Good news! Over a few visits, Dr. Balloch can now attach your replacement dentures, bridges, or crowns to the abutments. These artificial teeth have been customized just for you, so they'll look and work like your own natural teeth. Being unable to smile, talk, or eat properly should soon be a thing of the past.

Cost and Insurance Coverage

It's hard to predict the final cost of your procedure as there are many factors involved:

  • Number of implants
  • Implant type
  • Number and types of restorative teeth
  • Sedation vs. local anesthesia
  • Pre-implant procedures like bone grafts or sinus lift

Unfortunately, most insurance plans don't cover dental implants as they're considered cosmetic dentistry. That's why Dr. Balloch works closely with CareCredit®, a popular third-party financing program. He strongly believes everyone is entitled to the dental care they need regardless of financial issues. So if you qualify, you can pay for your treatment in affordable monthly installments. Dr. Balloch's warm, educated staff will discuss costs and payment options with you.
