Dental Implants

If you're missing teeth due to injury, decay, or illness, everyday tasks like smiling, chewing, and speaking can be embarrassing or painful.

Learn more about how long-lasting, natural-looking dental implants can improve your smile, confidence, and quality of life...

Benefits of Dental Implants

Healthier Appearance

Missing teeth can weaken your jawbone, causing shrinkage of bone and tissue. This gives your face a sunken, aged appearance. Dr. Bidra may recommend implants to keep your jaw strong, replace missing teeth, and help your face look fuller, more youthful, and healthier.

Improved Speech

Missing teeth can cause lisping and garbled speech because the open spaces affect how your tongue works to create certain sounds. Implants, along with attached dentures, can help you pronounce words more clearly.

Longevity

Dr. Bidra uses only high-quality, scientifically documented, strong titanium implants such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare. They are backed by scientific data across hundreds of studies encompassing thousands of patients followed up for many years. We do not use copycat products and we stand behind our work!

Better Diet

After Dr. Bidra attaches high-quality replacement teeth to your implants, biting and chewing healthy foods like fruits, nuts, and vegetables will be a lot easier. Healthy diets can be difficult to maintain when teeth are missing or damaged.

More Self-Confidence

When your smile is affected by a damaged tooth or several missing teeth, it can be difficult to talk or laugh in public. A bright healthy smile can restore self-confidence, which may help you achieve your personal and business goals.

Cost-Effectiveness

Dr. Bidra recommends dental implants as a first choice for replacing missing teeth to his patients in the Glastonbury, CT, area because dental implants are an excellent long-term investment for your dental and oral health. The higher upfront cost is offset by reduced maintenance needs in the long term compared to other modalities. Traditional dentures cost less, but they don't prevent bone shrinkage and shifting like titanium implants, and the implants can provide firm anchorage for your teeth that dentures cannot. This can eliminate costly treatments like bone grafts if a denture needs replacing later.

"Hard to describe how beautiful my teeth look." 5-Star Reviews

Outstanding.  Hard to describe how beautiful my teeth look.  I was a complicated case, and Dr. Balloch and his entire team was completely focused on ensuring everything worked perfectly.  I had many extra visits (due to my own issues) and I was always given priority and extra care.  The temporaries were so beautiful it was hard to believe the permanents would be even better -  but they are.  All issues resolved and I couldn't be happier.  Tremendous service by the entire staff and amazing outcome.  Highly recommend.

A Brand New Smile in One Appointment The Possibilities of All-on-4

Dr. Bidra offers All-on-4® dental implants to qualifying patients at our practice in Glastonbury, CT. With the All-on-4 method, Dr. Bidra can attach a full denture to only four dental implants. With the All-on-4 approach, the implants are placed at a precise angle that doesn't require as much healthy bone tissue, so preparatory bone grafting is required less often.

Best of all, the All-on-4 denture can be placed immediately after the implant surgery. You can enter our Glastonbury dental office with no healthy teeth, and then leave with a natural-looking smile a few hours later.

Procedure Timeline

A dental implant itself is not a tooth, but is a simple titanium post anchored in your jawbone that can support a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all teeth in your mouth. It typically takes three to four months for your body to heal around the implant and then another two months to complete the installation of prosthetic teeth to the implant to complete this smile-restoring, life-changing treatment. But it's totally worth the time and financial investment to get your oral health, smile, and self-confidence back.

When all teeth are lost or about to be replaced in the mouth, typically the All-on-4 treatment is used which allows installation of the teeth the very same day as all the implants can be connected together for a solid prosthesis during the healing phase.

Here are the basic steps:

Treatment Planning

During an initial appointment, Dr. Bidra will listen to your concerns carefully, examine your mouth in detail, obtain radiographs and CT scan and then develop a customized treatment plan for you. During this visit, we will determine the best type of implants and location for the posts, as well as discuss your cosmetic goals. We will also work with your medical doctor to get medical consultation and clearance as necessary.

Anesthesia/Sedation Dentistry

Before the procedure, a numbing anesthetic will be injected into the surgical area so you feel comfortable and pain-free. We are proud to offer sedation dentistry to patients who prefer to be in a sleepy but conscious state during the surgery. This is administered through an IV by a skilled, highly experienced dental anesthesiologist.

Implant Placement

Small, surgical incisions are made in your gums through which the implants are anchored into your jaw. These are the titanium tooth roots that will eventually support your prosthetic tooth or teeth. A healing period of three to four months is required for the implants to fuse to your jawbone before the next procedure can be scheduled.

Abutment Attachment

A device called an abutment is secured to the titanium posts. It serves as a connector between the post and the prosthetic tooth it will support. Because the implants must be accessed to attach the abutment, small incisions will again be made in your gums. After one or two weeks of healing, the final part of the procedure can be scheduled.

Prosthetic Teeth Placement

Good news! Over a few visits, Dr. Bidra can now attach your final dentures, bridges, or crowns to the abutments. These artificial teeth have been customized just for you, so they'll look and work like your own natural teeth. Being unable to smile, talk, or eat properly should soon be a thing of the past.

Cost and Insurance Coverage

It is a well-known fact that dental implant treatment has higher upfront costs ranging in a few thousand dollars. However, what is not well known to patients is that the cost of dental implants depends on several factors, including the quality of dental implants, the number of implants you receive, the type of restorations placed, and any preliminary treatments performed.

Although the initial cost of this restorative treatment is higher, dental implants provide patients with unparalleled benefits, including improved oral health and security. As such, you can feel confident in this worthwhile investment in your smile. During your appointment, we can review all factors that may affect the cost of treatment at our Glastonbury office near Hartford, CT. We do not use any cheap quality dental implants or biomaterials to cut costs, which may be detrimental to your bone and health. We stand behind our work!

Unfortunately, most insurance plans don't cover dental implants as they're considered cosmetic dentistry. That's why our team works closely with CareCredit®, a popular third-party financing program. We strongly believe everyone is entitled to the dental care they need regardless of financial issues. If you qualify, you can pay for your treatment in affordable monthly installments. Our warm, friendly, and educated staff will discuss costs and payment options with you.

When I needed veneers due to a few broken teeth I visited 3 dentists for consultations. I met with Dr. Balloch last and after that visit I had made my choice. He spent so much time with me, performed a thorough evaluation and presented different options. His years of experience, his gentle demeanor and attention to detail is what sold me. I made it clear that I would not be happy if there was even the slightest indication that the new teeth were not natural. I can honestly say my new teeth are perfect! I appreciated the outstanding care provided by Dr. Balloch and Lisa, his longtime assistant, who made sure I was as comfortable as possible throughout the process.

I felt compelled to write and express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Balloch. His work (perhaps better described as an art form) is the highest quality. I had experienced dental problems with discoloration and other severe issues my entire life. At different times I had procedures completed from several dentists that were only moderate improvements. It was not until I found Dr. Balloch that my smile was truly transformed. My process was long as there were much work to be done, but Dr. Balloch fully explained every step thoroughly. I knew I was in expert hands and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life to see Dr. Balloch. My before and after pictures are remarkable! He loves what he does and it shows in My Smile.
