The Cost of Porcelain Veneers: Budgeting for a Beautiful Smile

Dr. Steven M. Balloch offers beautifully customized porcelain veneers that look natural with your smile. Porcelain veneers are a multipurpose treatment option that can correct numerous cosmetic issues. Made of thin, tooth-colored shells that fit over the front surfaces of the teeth, they cover imperfections to instantly improve the appearance of your smile. Dr. Balloch and his world-class, award-winning laboratory technicians will custom-make your porcelain veneers to suit your needs and desired results. The cost of porcelain veneers placed at our Hartford office varies according to the number of veneers you require, as well as other factors. To learn more about porcelain veneers and their cost, contact our office today.

You are by far the best dentist I’ve ever had or hope to have. You and your staff work toward a single focus - making your clients the best they can be, one smile at a time. There are clearly many still out there who associate dentistry with nerve-ripping pain and agony. They obviously have not met you.

The Process

Blond woman laughing with gorgeous white smile. The procedure for porcelain veneers is very simple, and Dr. Balloch has developed a protocol for porcelain veneers that provides consistent, beautiful smiles for every patient. At your first appointment, Dr. Balloch will do a thorough dental examination, take photographs of your smile and plaster models of your teeth. You and he will discuss how you want your teeth to look in terms of size and shape, and perhaps review yearbook, wedding, glamour, or other photos so that he can communicate to his laboratory technician exactly how the porcelain veneers are to look. The laboratory will then make a wax mock up of your veneers on your plaster models that will act as a three-dimensional guide to making your custom temporary and final veneers.

At the second visit, he will prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel from the surfaces of the teeth you wish to treat. He will remove only enough material to nearly equal the thickness of the veneer, roughly half a millimeter. Next, Dr. Balloch will take an impression of your teeth to send to his partner dental lab, where talented technicians will craft your porcelain veneers. Then, he will make temporary veneers in the shape of the wax mock up, which you will wear for a few weeks while the permanent ones are being fabricated. This is the beauty of his protocol. While you are "trying on" the custom temporary veneers, you will be able to assess how they look in your mouth, and you can let Dr. Balloch know of any things you want to change. Dr. Balloch will also work out any functional issues. Any cosmetic or functional changes in the temporaries are recorded in a plaster model of the temporaries and sent to the laboratory for incorporation into the final veneers. The technicians then perform their magic with color and special porcelain modifiers, and the result are beautiful veneers made to the shape and function worked out in the custom temporary veneers.

This process typically takes a few weeks. When your permanent veneers are ready, Dr. Balloch will attach them to your teeth with a special bonding agent so that they remain securely in place. The whole process involves extensive patient input and provides multiple opportunities to make changes, so the process is very predictable and always yields excellent results.

Cost Factors

The cost of your porcelain veneers and related treatments will mainly depend on the number of veneers you require. Some patients want veneers for all of their visible teeth, while others may only require one veneer. Other important factors include the experience, reputation, and credentials of your dentist. Dr. Balloch was one of the first dentists in New England to perform this procedure (1984) and has placed thousands of veneers since. He is a 19-year member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has won several awards in past AACD Smile Gallery events. He has studied with some of the best cosmetic dentists in the world. Working with a highly trained and experienced cosmetic dentist like Dr. Balloch reduces your risk of costly complications and remakes, and helps you enjoy excellent results.

An Investment in Your Smile and Your Confidence

Porcelain veneers can quickly conceal many cosmetic issues, including chipping, small fractures, irregular spacing, discoloration, or misalignment. They usually require only two dental visits to prepare and place, making them very convenient. Porcelain veneers are also durable and stain-resistant, so with proper care they can last for many years. If you choose to combine veneers with other cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening and Invisalign®, you can customize your treatment to achieve the smile of your dreams. By enhancing the look of your smile, porcelain veneers can boost your self-esteem and confidence.  Visit the porcelain veneers section of our smile gallery to see our beautiful work.
